The Bacon Strip

Huck Tater showed up with his 4×4 and a long piece of chain thinking that meant we were going to have a good old down home motorheadfest. Others present were Dale, Randy, Jim, Steve, Don, Wayne and Marnie.

Anyway, We cleared out the four cars in the canyon proper. The Celica was a mess. The back end was levered up in the air and the engine compartment was totally full of rocks and sand, alluvium for the geeks. It was right in the center of the “creek” and I guess over ten+ years you get a bit of flow.

We met Marnie from the Forrest Service. She’s super nice and seems genuinely interested in helping Randy and Dale make their plans a reality. Even on such a crappy day there were a dozen or so hikers and riders that came through while we were working. That was good for her to see. Thanks Marnie!
(Smella speeks highly of her, having toured large areas of Eastern Nevada with her a few years back.)

Thanks to Dale and Randy! Those guys have some pretty cools plans brewing. TBS is 100% behind you. I think their enthusiasm and leadership is going to be a major motivator in creating a more hands-on MTB community here in Reno.

The plan next week, I belive, is to flag out the DH trail into Evan’s Creek. They need help, but some of us are going to race with the Wheelmen next Thursday, so someone needs to represent!

Sat. May 12 is The Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful Clean Up Day there will be dumpsters at the Keystone Canyon Trail Head. On an average weekday eve there is easily a 10:1 biker hiker ratio it would be nice to see those same numbers on May 12 maybe if we all do a good job wolfy will cook us pancakes.
