Sizzling hot bacon for October 30th through October 31st:
SunJournal.com - Can food really turn you on? - What’s with this AMAZING meat?!?!? Is there anything bacon CAN’T do? I’m thinking Bacon Cliff Bars, Bacon flavored condoms, Bacon Cytomax, Bacon Body Spray. What else? Bacon Shammy Cream? The Bacon Patch!
Spiked online - The toilet?s disconnection from everyday life, combined with the relaxing motion of the bowels, is also conducive to creativity.
Facility Bike Club - “I hereby decree, that $3.00 gas is now a tax on impatience, intolerance, and hatred! Opt out of the madness! Riding a bicycle is part of the revolution! I’ll see you there.”
a pilgrimage of sorts, a bicycle tour of other sorts, we spent the Nevada Statehood commemorative holiday spinning away on and a nontechnical semi-long ride. Gerlach, NV was the start and ending location, by way of the Black Rock Playa, Soldier Meadows, High Rock Canyon, and Highway 34.
We are inundated with smoke and riding anywhere near here is not recommended due to paticulates in the air. So, instead of riding my bike I’m thinking about bike riding and looking at some stuff from earlier in the year. So, here are a couple of short videos for your viewing pleasure.
This first one is from my Bachelor Party Weekend in Southern Utah. This was a fun little section on the Little Creek Mesa trails.
After I returned from my honeymooon I joined a friend in Big Bear to do some lift-assisted riding and we tried to find all the stunts we could. I’m not sure they are on the trail maps, but they sure were fun. The first is a nice log ride. It took me two tries to ride the log, but my dismount was lacking. Oops.
The final one is a little log jump that was set up at the start of another trail. It was pretty fun. I like getting air between my tires and the ground.
I hope everyone else is getting out and riding their bikes.
The Champagne of Blogs » Never Forget - This would never happen at the spectacular brewpubs in Reno, still… “The wave of beer destroyed two homes and crumbled the wall of the Tavistock Arms pub, trapping the barmaid under the rubble.”
4th Street is not bicycle friendly - Another bike-car accident. Don’t know the deets here, but my sister was hit near there a few weeks ago. Not cool.
The Wiki Strip - Let’s give this a try. A backcountry wiki for northern nevada, reno, tahoe, etc… Skiing, biking, and random bacon stripping. Go ahead and do whatever comes naturally.

Have a say in Washoe County`s Open Space Plan
The Regional Open Space and Natural Resource Management Plan is the County’s guide for making decisions that maintain the region’s natural heritage, landscape and wildlife. The proposed update was developed over the last six months with the assistance of numerous partner agencies and the public. For the first time, a natural resource management component has been added into the plan.

Sizzling hot bacon for October 19th through October 22nd:
Rusted Chain Gang - Poker Run « Cycling Carson City - I’ve been wanting to get in on one of these poker runs. The CC crowd is pretty cool. Don’t let the greasy one get you bummin on our brothers to the south.
The Patriot - Good commercial! Maybe we should reconsidder our disdain for Miller High Life… Although this might be a good campaign for PBR or Haams…
Finding Liberté on Two Wheels - New York Times - MY plane landed at Charles de Gaulle airport. I took the RER train into Paris, dropped off my bag and, two hours after landing, I was riding a bicycle down the Boulevard Saint-Germain.
Bicycle Safety: How to Not Get Hit by Cars - Wearing a helmet will do absolutely nothing to prevent you from getting hit by a car! Sure, helmets might help you if you get hit, and it’s a good idea to wear one, but your #1 goal should be to avoid getting hit in the first place.
Something recently made me think of this AWESOME video from the early 1980’s. Got to love this, and with the older, wiser ear, detect subtle truths we can still take to heart…
This Golden Cowboy Boot was in the middle of a busy intersection near my office yesterday morning. It’s a fine example of things that are seen in Reno - the things that make one ask why? and how?
My interpretation includes a pimp named Leonard who gets the crap kicked out of him by a few of his ho’s on a Wednesday Night in Reno, losing one of his Gold Boots during the scuffle.
First. Gris says if we get at least 3 riders tomorrow we can have a fixie-cross class @ Hidden Valley. I’m hoping for EXACTLY 3 riders so I can at least place. But you never know. Perhaps if I trash talk well enough a faster rider will drop out… Anyone up for pre-race pancakes and bacon @ Pegs around 8 or 8:30 followed by a spin out to hidden V? (Precip chance 40%…)
Anyway. News item #2: We’re celebrating Smella’s new job @ our house in the evening tomorrow. So come on by and we’ll eat something, burn some logs in the fire and mix her up some Gee-n-Tee’s. Whoooo Yeah!
Third: My RenoFixed homies, whom I dearly love like deformed and slightly mentally handicapped younger brothers, are holding an Alleycat Race. So for those of you who don’t care that my wife got a dream job, you can still do something usefull with your time.
Fourth: Team Bacon Strip would like to thank, praise and accolade Mamma Joan and VNasty for the Second Annual Sausage Fest! Those were some goooood weeeners!!! Can’t wait until next year! (someone post them pics!)
