We are inundated with smoke and riding anywhere near here is not recommended due to paticulates in the air. So, instead of riding my bike I’m thinking about bike riding and looking at some stuff from earlier in the year. So, here are a couple of short videos for your viewing pleasure.
This first one is from my Bachelor Party Weekend in Southern Utah. This was a fun little section on the Little Creek Mesa trails.
After I returned from my honeymooon I joined a friend in Big Bear to do some lift-assisted riding and we tried to find all the stunts we could. I’m not sure they are on the trail maps, but they sure were fun. The first is a nice log ride. It took me two tries to ride the log, but my dismount was lacking. Oops.
The final one is a little log jump that was set up at the start of another trail. It was pretty fun. I like getting air between my tires and the ground.
I hope everyone else is getting out and riding their bikes.
Cheers,

Those were some trickd out moves. I likey likey!!!
Hopefully the air will clear out for you soon.
We’re getting rain up here in the sierras which is making for some good riding.
Looks like the weight of your pack was the culprit of your less graceful move!
I’d blame the pack, but I think it was just poor weight transfer as I hit the ground.
There has been some moisture in the air and it helping them contain the last fires and has helped the air quality. I’ll be riding again soon.

nice lookin line in that sandstone, Reedster. was that a trail on Gooseberry Mesa, or something else near there? i NEED to get back to riding and climbing on sandstone - it’s my happy place. let’s see, what would my power animal be?
yeah, i’d say it was the packs fault. luckily, you disciplined it prompty by landing on your side and back. i doubt the pack will be so deviant again anytime soon.

That sandstone line was pretty darn proud, if I say so myself. As always, it doesn’t look as bad in pictures. It was at Little Creek Mesa which is the next mesa South of Gooseberry. I think I actually liked the riding at Little Creek better than Gooseberry, but they are both phenomenal. Little Creek had lots of technical sections that seemed more advanced than Gooseberry, which is why I liked it more. I did some and I saved some for when I feel up to the challenge.
I think I’m heading out that way after Thanksgiving to join in Steve Edwards’ Birthday Challenge. I’m not sure of all the details, but it involves lots of bike riding and lots of climbing. I’m sure there will be lots of drinking as well. I’ll try to document it well for posterity’s sake.

what, like the weekend of Turkey Day?
Yea, the days immediately following the eating of the Turkey. Steve’s birthday is the 22nd, but his challenge will probably be the 23rd or 24th and centered around the St. George area. The more the merrier, so you two or anyone else so inclined should come on out for the festivities.
I just checked the Birthday Challenge website, but he doesn’t have an update there yet. Not too surprising, since I doubt he knows exactly what he is going to do yet. But, I am pretty sure that it will be 47 miles of biking and 47 routes and whatever else he tries to throw in there.
