It was sort of a late start, but we made good time from the springs to High Rock (sorry excuse for a) lake. Passing along the way this cool spot heading up into Fly Canyon.
Here’s a cool spot with a slickrock climb then a descent into a box canyon!
Some neat terrain through the canyon including a couple muddy spots, but nothing we couldn’t handle.
The land scape was VERY different from the previous day with many bends and turns, including this cool opening in the canyon with a sweet looking Butte. It’s the wild west man! Makes you want to pop off a couple rounds and start spittin tobaccy.
We shot for Steven’s Camp, which I didn’t get any pics of, but when we got there we found a total mess. Moto boots, a pot full of grease and onions, Baily’s, wine, dishes EVERYWHERE, and a REALLY funky smell (in addition the the one coming from us). We moved on after filtering some water. Not sure if it’s real or alarmist, but there’s a sign saying the water from the tap is NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. We read that AFTER filling bottles. But we had some iodine so it was ok…
We rolled on from that abomination to see a 200+ heard of antelope and then a nice sunset around a camp fire.
A cold and frosty night ensued, with some rather disturbing noises and chatterings coming from Smithers and VNasty.
More to follow…
