i think a 6×6 would be a fine machine for getting around in/amongst/between the Great Basin’s horst and graben. especially when surface conditions range from 0 to 36″ of snow over the approach roads. my pick-up will have to suffice. with tire chains on all 4 wheels, it’d sure do OK on snow covered jeep roads.
The following statement must be read in a Red Neck Drawl. That cheese machine or a krout cooker, can’t even touch my big ‘ol Dodge. Insert spitting noise now.
Speaking of Vulture… Aaron, Stubby and I made it down this past Sunday and the trails were off the hook! So much so, Stubby and I made it down yesterday again and the trails were even better… is that possible? Yes. Possibly going down tomorrow as well.
Oh yeah, the Vulture handled like nobodies business… divide loop was like a roller coaster… that’s my kind of amusement park!!!
Another note, I was down there picking up a letter and some certs from the Cal Fire Auburn Headquarters station so I took Smokey and went for a trail run two days ago and saw this crazy effin Indian dude with a rat tail ridin’ a uni-cycle on the confluence trail… there was cliffs and shit and he handle it beotches!!!
What’s the mud situation like down there? I’ve been putting off going down there thinking it would be a bog. I definately want to go put in some big days before Tucson.
should have gone today. Too sick to do anything but slog up Tamarack. Wind buff on Proletariat wasn’t half bad. And I got home in time to convert the Stately Pleasure Bike to One Speed!! Yeee HAWWWWW!! 32 x 21 first try. Perfect tension on a pre-stretched chain!!
If I see that hunk parked anywhere in my ‘hood, I’m gonna slap the ol’ “If Your Pecker Was As Small As Mine, You’d Need A Rig Like This Too.” sticker on it!! P.O.S! I say. Maybe some lapidary grit in the crankcase.
there’s a mercedes version of this thing sitting across the street from betos (bell?), its even flying on West German flag.
Don’t you dare confuse a Unimog with a Pinzgauer. You can even comparison shop here: http://www.swissarmyvehicles.com/vehiclelist.php?cat=2
