superthrowdown single speed session

[?]

just a quick pic from riding Sunday with Nooner on the Hall Ranch - Fiddle Ck Ridge- N Yuba Trails. all in all, about 17 miles with just a bit of highway between trailheads. the rest was out of the saddle standing climbing in direct sun with bugs trying their best to enter my lungs, carrying, flying downhill, surprise! switchbacks, and gnarly up down up down exposure of the NYT.

nooner over the N Yuba

did i mention it was warm? most trails were littered with loose rock and other F.O.D., exposed, and much of it very tight single track. the ride had a palatable feeling of adventure!

climb!

hammer down

most notable, the trails were absolutely empty. didn’t even see the easter bunny!

coolin off

did i mention it was warm?

ride buzz!

can’t wait to do it again either, maybe an out and back the Saturday of the Banff Film Festival viewings at the Yuba Theater. any takers?  drive out Friday night, maybe catch those movies too.  roll home Sunday?  what say, anyone for a whatthefuck out and back ride from Rocky Rest C.G., up the N. Yuba Trail to Hall’s Ranch and down Fiddle Ck Ridge, then sort of backtracking by going to the north end of the Hall Ranch Trail, climbing that back to Fiddle Ck Ridge and descending the way we’d come? I’d say 8ish hours, lots of fun.

That was a bitchin and radical ride my friend… long over due! Lilbit of hika-bikin, gnat(the small dipteran fly, not superhuman 1spdr) swattin, sweat drippin and barley-pop-worthy ridin fun!
I’m definitely in for the Banff weekend so long as there are beverages involved. Lavazzola?
How about some pics when you get a chance, email or smugmug… how do I get to your smugmug?

Good to see you and the human incubator… Oso and the pig too!

and go forward for about 40 or 50 shots. you can save them from there, be sure to select the large or original size to save so you get the best resolution - for whatever that’s worth.

    great ride amigo.

Judging by your pictures, the grins on your faces when you got home, and the tales of exposure & hike-a-bikes, this ride seems pretty awesome. I’m looking forward to it this fall, when I can rally hard again (instead of continuing on my slow athletic decline). I’m also totally down with Banff in Downieville. I’ll go all 3 nights even - let’s make it happen.

Miguelito, always great to see you! Hope to hang out more soon. - the human incubator

whoooaaaahhhh! i’ll wrastle us up some tickets for all 3 days. cool then!

call it the superdoublethrowdown singlespeed ride Saturday AM. i think riding by 0700 would be prudent, from Rocky Rest CG. perhaps camping there Friday night would make the mostest sense? have your people call my people - we’ll make it happen.

    still on the loose,
    J.r.

ps- anyone need some Churchill insulated elk skin ropers? i’m gonna make a run to McGukin’s tomorrow AM on my way to the closest gonzo coffee shop.
