what’s better than bumbling across a bunch of granite boulder rockstacles?

slabstacle

finding big areas of granite slabstacles for complete enjoyment and freedom of route finding

what beats the hell out of climbing service roads littered with rolling baby heads and moon dust at the hottest time of the day?

Judah

Rippin’ long swoopy fun trail through fern groves, under big trees, and across bridges. i suspect the trails were pretty much empty b/c lots of people aren’t interested in the putting in the time to get to the top of the hill

what could possibly be better than looking across the high country and picking out the peaks you’re about to spend your day riding around…

started waywayway over there

looking back at the peaks you crossed earlier in the day and all the fun you’ve had along the way

what could be more refreshing than scoring an ice lemonade after finishing 7ish hours of riding?

lemonade

well, we had another 10 miles of our ride to do to find out…

almost done

beer on the beach and cold lake to swim in.

yup, that might’ve bested the lemonade

thanks again Nate and Jan (sp?). good ride!

SSWC08

And another one bites the dust. Literally. This time @ the Singlespeed world championships in Napa CA.

Team Bacon Strip!

GOOD job TEAM!!! we had four riders rolling in TBS stickers and three in the extra crispy bacon capes made by the GrislyBikeGal… AWE SO ME!

I think Stubby did best taking 7th?

Nat

Saw The Nat again from Seattle. He seems to be doing well.

IT was a pretty fun race. One of these times I have to remember to bring ear plugs so I can get some sleep. I ended up just doing one lap of the race. The dust, and the hikeabike was enough fun for one lap that I decided to move on to beer drinking. But for a 35 dollar value we got a tshirt, water bottle, socks, beer, redbull, burrito and bottle opener. So a pretty good deal considered.

Durango next year? Maybe…

brown dog down

born sometime in the late 1900s, probably in Flagstaff, AZ and survivor of 12+ winters.

toolie

she was rescued from the FLG dog pound with status as “the next dog to die,” in probably 1997.  she lived in Flagstaff, Rochester, Las Vegas, Reno, and is now resting in Dog Valley.

Toolie was a “special” dog - instigator of much stress, always loyal to her Mom and an excellent sentinel.  she was always happy to see friends and meet new people.  she did not take any shit, especially from Dad.

Via con fuerte, Toulose. We’ll come visit you in Dog Valley often. I think you will like it there.

Greetings from SLC

Howdy fellow TBSers!  On the eve my my first day of school, I thought I’d procrastinate from reading my assigned arguments by sharing a few pics from a few of the rides I’ve been doing out here in the Wasatch.  These mountains are fun!  I’ve been on the ground for about two weeks and have been getting out on some very scenic and challenging (for me) 4 hour rides about 4 times a week.  Most of my rides have been solo and I haven’t been very diligent about digging out the camera, but this past week I snapped a few photos of the landscape to share. The view from along the Crest trail.   Continue reading ‘Greetings from SLC’

The right state for a TBS sticker

Ok, I think this is the best I’ve seen my TBS sticker on my seat post.  That’s what it looked like as I was cleaning the bike after Leadville. The finish was in the rain, made lots of mud, which is what I really wanted to be riding in at that point. At least I finished.FinishWow, what a ride. Still more fun than I should have, even after all this time. Course is great, support is awesome and it’s just out there enough to make it all worth while. Come ride it with me sometime.
