And another one bites the dust. Literally. This time @ the Singlespeed world championships in Napa CA.
GOOD job TEAM!!! we had four riders rolling in TBS stickers and three in the extra crispy bacon capes made by the GrislyBikeGal… AWE SO ME!
I think Stubby did best taking 7th?
Saw The Nat again from Seattle. He seems to be doing well.
IT was a pretty fun race. One of these times I have to remember to bring ear plugs so I can get some sleep. I ended up just doing one lap of the race. The dust, and the hikeabike was enough fun for one lap that I decided to move on to beer drinking. But for a 35 dollar value we got a tshirt, water bottle, socks, beer, redbull, burrito and bottle opener. So a pretty good deal considered.
Durango next year? Maybe…

sounds like you guys had a blast, met bunches of riders and really, really enjoyed yourselves. good on ya! how’d everyone do? i hear that Handlebar Sandwich made it 101st. that cat’s fit, so you know the field was tough. if only 300ish people raced, what happened to the other 100ish of the 400 that were supposed to have registered? was there any race day registration?
is that dirt, Nat, or really just a dirty sanchez?
The fact was, after the big hoopla about the midnight signups anybody who showed up and wanted to race was allowed to give ‘er hell. I got 66th officially, at least that’s what my finish prize said. Rad course, SUPER hard. Stubbie battled it out all race with the one and only Travis Brown. A bunch, and I mean a bunch of people dropped out. Not to take away from all that participated, but anybody that did all three laps qualifies as a super stud.
GBG
SSWC was quite the experience. At times it was more like a SS show n shine than a bike race! Lots of cool people from all over the world showin off their goods and the course was tough. Lots o hike a bike and I have no idea where I finished but it was somewhere near the bottom but that race was all about finishing cuz it was a mofo! I finished about an hour back of GBG and an hour ahead of DFL soooo… we missed ya JR it woulda been your scene for sure. Durango next year…maybe just maybe!
Oh yeah to Ms Bustigator- Thanks for the “he could always go for more” comment. I sure do luv you!
A big nod to the youngest registered rider of the race-Sam Richmann from Flag, AZ comin’ in at 12 years young. He finished 2 laps on his single speed, traded out with his pops, B-Rad who finished the third lap. A family who plays together stays together…so awesome to see. To all the caped TBSers, thanks for not kicking our assess post race for heckling trail side style. I feel like I got the best of all worlds-riding the course all weekend followed by verbally accosting registered racers. Good Times.
