This is news to me - in today’s Gazette Journal there’s a writeup on a trail that is allegedly nearing completion down in the Galena Creek Area. We checked a map, and Brown’s Creek is south of Mt. Rose Highway, and the only riding I’ve been aware of in that area is the lower Galena trail through McMansionville. I’m stoked to check this trail out - the group who’s been working on it, Galena Cycling Club, is getting together next month to finish the trail. Here’s a link to the article in today’s paper.

Bacon Bowl
A short clip of JaphyRider laying telebacon strips in Broken Glass Bowl in Mt Rose b/c - a surprisingly satisfying session on Saturday morning. Japhy and Wolfy dug a few test pits - they showed fair homogeneity all the way to the rock-salt layer at the ground surface, although there seemed to be some invisible stratification that resulted in blocky shear at about a foot. Conditions were still thin on some aspects, but hourglass & proletariat were smooth and soft, with the exception of a few krusty surprises underneath.

Snowblaster

Kind of like a sandblaster this morning on top of Tamarack. No complaints ’bout being on skis instead of working or changing diapers - Wolfy had some sweet turns in the pockets of fresh, and I had fun despite leaving my poles at home. Hopefully this is the first of an unbroken set of Friday mornings until April that the D.P. crew will be represented in the b/c (this is a call to arms for all you ’strippers).
Check out Wolfy here trying to stand against 60 mph wind on Tamarack Ridge -
This guy appears to have a twisted mission of skinning & skiing 10,000 ft/day. The thing that really gets me is that he has a new kid! I better change my ways…pronto!

Fixed Gear Fury
Hoping I can borrow McDee’s single-wheel fixed ‘cycle for some urban shredding like this guy:
The Debt Collector

Think this thing could take a pit bull? Reportedly, an American kid let one of these into his tent while camping, and it proceeded to eat him. That’s gotta just be bad luck though, I think that anything requiring a chain and Hannibal mask is a pet worth keeping.
Burned Bacon
Here’s the clip that I referenced at our freestyle stop on the Hole in the Ground ride last Saturday. The guy apparently forgot that when you’re scared, your sphincty tends to tighten up…
