Here we have the Updated Peavine map with the comments as of 4-10-07 incorporated. Thanks for helping out! I have added a few names that were suggested here and elsewhere as well as one I made up on the spot. If those end up not working for everyone I’ll change them. But I wanted to stay away from potentially offensive names like “The Bitch” (went with La Bruja) and whatnot.
Also, that “no chicks hill” is both stupid and functionally inaccurate. I’ve named it Chick’s Hill for the now. Perhapse something like, “Goddess of Peavine Hill” or “Nuestra Senora de Peavine.”

At some point we should create a Google Map with directions from Down Town Reno to all the access points. The new Google Map suposedly has some pretty strong features that would make it ideal for this application, including linking to/from this page, link to photos and marking routes. But I haven’t tried it If anyone has, help a brotha’ out!

Please stay tuned to the blog for updates on trail work going on on peavine. Also dhReno will be posting that info as well.

  1. I just rode The Bacon Strip for the first time. GREAT TRAIL DUDES!!!!

I thought of a good name for the one I have lebeled “Gunslinger” that descends into Keystone from TBS. How about “The Grease Trap???” Cause it’s below the bacon strip.

  2. i’ll have to meditate on the subject…

let’s do avoid suggesting names that include people’s names (ie- Phil’s Trail, Lloyds Trail…)

perhaps i’ll hit the stacks and see what worthy names can be picked from historic literature.

Nameless 1 is called “The Bong Trail” That is what the birth father named it. Although there may not be any bongs @ since its completion but you never know. Any ordinance found should be left where it is….

The trail that splits off from the radio towers and goes back towards the south, side hilling and then shoots down a steep run to drop into Keystone Canyon, (edited author=”TBS”)It came to me in a dream in 2003/2007(/edited). The name comes from part of the trail running along a rabbit trail. I have seen various websites posting names, just thought the guy who (edited author=”TBS”)dreamed about(/edited) the trail should get first crack at naming it.
