Could be a real headline here if we rally together and launch a successful campaign to get Alpine Meadows Ski Resort to rename a trail in our esteemed honor. What other local blog / band of dirty hippy mountain bikers and backcountry skiers has a bigger presence @ Alpine Meadows than us? VNasty is there EVERY DAY! Nooninator usually has a pass and kneedrops like a mofo. The McDeez have been sighted with frequency, and of course, I practically work there.
The question is which trail should be The Bacon Strip? Red, Green or Blue…
“The trails are special and their names deserve a bit more character,” said Jim Kercher, Alpine Meadows General Manager. I remember working at Alpine in 1975; and even then, people consistently commented that the names needed some more creativity. For the trail re-naming contest, the best suggestions for the new names are going to come from people who ski and ride them on a regular – even daily – basis. The new trail names aim to reflect the strong connection between Alpine and its roots and community,” he added.
So post up a comment with reasons why Alpine Meadows should have run called The Bacon Strip and how unspeakably awesome that would be, and I’ll do our official entry. (be sure to check out the prizes… Which I’d of course share with the team)
RenoslashTahoe is set to remain Flavor Country for the indefinite and immediate future as the American River Fire Complex might not be contained until OCTOBER!!!! That spells bad news for people who like aerobic exercise, the outdoors and lung health. But what are you going to do? You can’t blame California for everything. They’re doing the best they can. It does make our Nevada smoking ban seem a little meaningless. Why can’t we be down wind of Humboldt county?!!?
While Nooner and the McDeez R rocking Downieville and The Yuba, Barrett and I are planning on riding Geiger, Spooner and Mt. Rose on the road. Sound’s fucking miserable if you ask me. But it also sounds like it might be helpful if I plan to not suckdonkeyballs @ the Cascade Cream Puff in June. You never know…
I know Gris had mentioned wanting to do this ride. So if you think you can ride slow enough, please join us!
On Tuesday my buddy Earl and I went up to Alpine Meadows to check out the Placer County SAR Dog Team training. It was pretty cool! The little mutts got to take helicopter rides! Looks like fun. We’re going to have to try to train the TBS quadrupedal auxiliary in the fine are of diggign’ our asses out of the snow, god forbid…
Juni, Oso, Smokey, Chloe, Toolie, Reeces. Time to go to school!
And the lord said, “let there be sick,” and there was sick and behold it was very sick…
Captain Redbeard and I dropped Credit Card Bowl at about oh-dark-thirty this morning. Wind was howling on the road, but disappeared altogether about 20 meters down. Pow was sick, sunrise was sick and for the most part the good Captain and I were quite well. Yes, quite well indeed…
The Cap’n demponstrated the dangers of falling in a tree well. Fortunately I was there to ease the sting by laughing at him. We agreed on a new saying: he who laughs last, bails early. Funny how that worked out…
Don’t worry. I bought him a bagel for laughing at him. We’re cool.
Trent rocks some sick lines w/o a brain bucket! We did a couple laps @ Alpine Meadows, skied some str8liners and did a short hike-up for some extra freshie.
Gonna be sschreadddding a lot this winter. Stick with me and I’ll make you famous…
